AOR™ – Aluminum Oxide Remover
(AOR) Aluminum Oxide Remover – For the safe and effective removal of oxidation, corrosion and contaminants from aluminum surfaces. In 1-step it cleans and brightens surfaces for polishing. It preps surfaces for welding by removing oxides / hydroxides which contribute to porosity of aluminum welds. Contains NO hydrofluoric (HF), sulphuric acid or ammonium bi-fluoride.
AOR’s fully-biodegradable and sustainable formula is for;
- Surface cleaning & removal of oxidation (polishing will replace shine)
- Pre-cleaning of aluminum surfaces to prep for welding (eliminates porosity in weld seams)
- Post cleaning of aluminum after welding (removing smut)
- Surface preparation of aluminum prior to some painting applications
AOR uses “Smart Chemical Technology” to quickly remove oxidation and inhibit it from quickly returning. It is available in GEL ( for spray-on/brush-on) and LIQUID (dipping) formulas. AOR’s HF-free formula will not pit or damage surfaces ensuring precision machining and honing and requires only water to rinse surfaces. Not for use on clad aluminum.
AOR is suitable for indoor/outdoor use. It will remove oxidation, corrosion and surface contamination from;

- NOT for use on clad aluminum
If needed, preclean very dirty surfaces to remove all oils, dirt and other greasy contaminates, using Protocol’s DEEP CLEAN XTREME or other alkaline cleaner / degreaser. Protect surface not to be treated.
When applying by synthetic brush or by spray, apply a liberal amount of AOR (Gel) directly on the affected area. Ensure complete coverage Once applied, DO NOT agitate or interfere with.
AOR (Liquid) is designed for dip / immersion tanks ONLY. It is not designed for spray application as it will not cling to the surface.
Always perform a test patch prior to large application. Protect areas not to be treated. Refer to individual TDS sheets for more detailed instructions.

AOR Liquid:
In dip/immersion tanks the product can be reused for multiple times depending on the amount of contamination being removed from surfaces.
AOR Gel and Liquid are ready to use, DO NOT DILUTE. Do not allow product to freeze.

Dwell time can range from 5 – 10 minutes. Old, pitted aluminum and improper fabrication can require increased dwell time. Wipe, wash or pressure wash off – water neutralizes the product.
Always perform a test patch to determine adequate dwell time / immersion time.
Dwell time will vary greatly based on the degree of oxidation, contamination and condition of aluminum substrate. Cold temperatures will decrease working speed and increase dwell time.
